| Breaking News | | Stewart Struts Stuff in Wichita Win Saturday, August 10th, 1912: Tim Stewart was stingy with runs in his latest outing against the Constellations. He shut them out 1-0 on 6 hits with 6 strikeouts and 5 walks.
The Paradise manager said, "Tim was very aggressive tonight. He threw everything he had with a lot of confidence."
The losing manager had praise, too. "He was throwing strikes with all his pitches and mixing it up well. Stewart has a sneaky fastball, and whatever that off-speed pitch was, it was keeping our timing off."
This season Stewart has crafted a 20-8 mark with a 3.13 ERA in 241.1 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .275 against him and he has 138 strikeouts. | | Aldridge Shines in Gem Friday, August 9th, 1912: Goose eggs were the order of the day for Kansas City as Mike Aldridge shut out the Terns 4-0 at Terns Ballpark. The Stockton pitcher struck out 3 and walked 3 while allowing 6 hits.
To date this season Aldridge is 13-16 with 30 starts and an ERA of 4.37 with 86 strikeouts in 237 innings. | | Roberts Blisters Paradise Friday, August 9th, 1912: "It was like I was hitting little league pitching," said Joe Roberts after his 5-hit performance against the Gremlins. "No offense meant to Paradise, but it was like I was back in little league again. I could see the ball that well. But this wasn't a kid league park, it was Gremlins Ballpark."
The Wichita shortstop had a fantastic day at the plate, knocking out 5 hits in 5 at-bats and pacing his club to a 9-7 victory.
His manager elaborated after the game to the press, saying, "Joe worked the entire offseason on trying to shorten his swing and stay inside the ball and the hard work is paying off in base hits."
"That's what I'm trying to do," Roberts said. "Be quick to the ball and let it travel a little farther so I get a better look at it."
Joe Roberts singled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI double in the 8th and walked in the 9th.
In his 1912 season totals, Roberts has 6 home runs, .293 BA, .360 OBP, 46 RBIs and 74 runs scored. | | | | | Today's Games - Sub League 1 | | Away Team | Home Team | Time | Starting Pitcher Away Team | Starting Pitcher Home Team | | Raleigh (37-81, Road: 17-43) | The Hills (75-43, Home: 35-22) | 2:05 pm | RHP R.Hernández (8-18, 3.96 ERA) | RHP N.Smith (18-9, 3.27 ERA) | | Norfolk (76-42, Road: 37-22) | Laredo (43-75, Home: 20-38) | 6:05 pm | RHP J.Clark (21-5, 2.46 ERA) | RHP B.Reisigl (6-18, 3.50 ERA) | | Newark (52-66, Road: 24-33) | Arlington (64-54, Home: 30-30) | 1:35 pm | RHP B.Brenner (7-6, 2.67 ERA) | RHP G.Lópas (16-11, 2.23 ERA) | | Cleveland (60-58, Road: 27-31) | Minneapolis (65-53, Home: 36-23) | 6:07 pm | RHP W.Medina (11-15, 3.09 ERA) | RHP S.Stroud (14-12, 3.36 ERA) | | Today's Games - Sub League 2 | | Away Team | Home Team | Time | Starting Pitcher Away Team | Starting Pitcher Home Team | | Wichita (60-58, Road: 32-28) | Paradise (74-44, Home: 36-21) | 2:05 pm | LHP H.Kline (10-13, 3.33 ERA) | | | Anaheim (67-51, Road: 36-23) | Jersey City (47-71, Home: 21-37) | 6:05 pm | | | | Stockton (38-80, Road: 16-41) | Kansas City (60-58, Home: 26-34) | 1:35 pm | LHP J.Patterson (5-15, 5.96 ERA) | | | Modesto (55-63, Road: 29-29) | Kearny (71-47, Home: 34-25) | 6:07 pm | RHP S.Burk (14-12, 2.52 ERA) | RHP R.Witherup (20-10, 1.88 ERA) | | |
