AL East: The Red Sox are prepared and ready to give this division over to the A’s.  At one point in this season, the Red Sox were the hottest team, with the best record, and an beatable amount of games ahead of the A’s.  Now, that lead has slipped to 5 games, they are 5-5 in their last ten, and have a winning percentage of only .682.  Can they turn this around?  Of course.  Is now the time?  yes.  The Highlanders just do not have the team to hang with the A’s or the Red sox.

AL West: The Tigers are doing just enough to win this round and head for a beating from either the A’s or the Red Sox.  The Browns and Naps seem willing to flirt with .500, but are not willing to go above it.

NL East: The Doves continue to hold off the Giants now that they are back in first place.  The Giants needed to make a move, but were unable to make any deals at the deadline.  The Superbas are dead and the Pirates have nothing left.

NL West: It gets a little boring writing about this division.  It was over after the first week.  The only question now is whether the Reds can make it to .500.

The National League destroyed the American League in this year’s All Star Game.  The NL scored 4 in the 4th inning and never looked back on their way to a 9-2 victory.  Al Bridwell, of the Superbas, was named player of the game for going 3 for 5.  Ty Cobb also had a great game going 2 for 5 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored.  This was one of the most exciting games despite the lopsided score.

news and notes

  1. BulletShoeless Joe Jackson has become the best player in the American League and perhaps in the entire PBA.  He is heads and shoulders above every single player in the American League.  He has a VORP of 40.9 and a OPS of .901.

  2. BulletTom Fisher already has 21 wins! The best free agent signing of the year was the Cardinals taking Chappie McFarland away from the Reds.

  3. BulletTy Cobb could go down as the best player to ever play in the PBA.  I just do not see anyone entering the league that can play as well as he can.  Ever.

  4. BulletThe Brooklyn Superbas have added Pink Hawley to the waiver wire.  Pink is a great pitcher that could help a few teams for nothing in return.  If you are looking for a good pitcher that will cost you nothing, Pink is your man!

  5. BulletThe St. Louis Cardinals made a bold statement today re-signing Jack Stahl to a 2 year deal for $60,000.  Stahl is batting .278 with 60 RBI, 5 HR and 39 runs scored.

  6. BulletThe Naps and A’s had a huge brawl this week that led to quite a few suspensions.  Ed Lennox and Frosty Thomas will each miss 6 games.
